FYI, There is a service opportunity October 1 to help unload a semi-trailer full of pumpkins at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church from 3:30pm to 6:15pm, in 30 minute shifts, rain or shine.
The alternative date is October 2, 2015, same times and shifts.
The semi-trailer unloading will be in the church front parking lot next to 86th Street.
Please wear weather appropriate clothes and bring work gloves. The pumpkins are dirty at times so be prepared to wear things that can get dirty.
Who can help? Scouts and people who are able to pass off pumpkins that weigh from 3 to 20 pounds.
FYI: The semi is coming from New Mexico. It arrives when it arrives.
In the past 5 years, the truck has been delayed once due to traffic. The truck is scheduled to arrive at noon to avoid these types of issues, but it is beyond our control in the end.
The alternate date is only if the truck has problems. Otherwise, we proceed rain or shine. In the event of lightning, we shelter until the storm passes then return to work.
